The City is a voluntary participant in the Local Agency Investment Fund (LAIF) that is regulated by California Government Code Section 16429 under the oversight of the Treasurer of the State of California.
The City Treasurer, who is elected to a four-year term on the November of each even numbered year, is responsible for the safekeeping of the City's cash. As official custodian of all City money, the Treasurer has the authority to invest money in LAIF and eligible securities authorized by government code and the City's investment policy. In addition, the Treasurer works with the City Finance Department in accounting for all revenues and expenditures.
