The Commission on Aging coordinates and participates in events throughout the year such as CarFit, the 4th of July Parade, Senior Healthy Series workshops, Family Caregiver Retreats, and senior needs assessments and surveys.

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Commission has partnered with the Pleasant Hill Senior Center to offer a Coping with COVID Senior Health Series free online through Zoom. These workshops do not require pre-registration.

This class provides information and resources to prepare for emergencies such as fire, earthquakes, and flooding. This class will discuss:
  • What type of emergencies might we have in Pleasant Hill – Different types of emergencies require different responses
  • How to identify the hazards within your house and eliminate them
  • Putting together a disaster kit to keep in your dwelling – How long should I expect to be isolated?
  • What should go into an emergency kit
  • Putting together a “Go Bag” should you have to leave or leave quickly
  • What important information should I take with me if I have to leave?
  • Making a Communication Plan – How to go about it and who should I contact
  • Escape Routes and Meeting Places, reunification
  • Planning for your pets or service animals
  • Disaster Psychology – How am I going to feel during and after an emergency
